SouthWind Art Gallery has opened our “Sons of the Prairie” exhibit, the follow-up to our ongoing show, “Daughters of the Prairie.” “Sons of the Prairie” features 12 of the best male artists of the region, including several nationally renowned artists. See it now through September 29.
Exhibiting artists are Zak Barnes, Allan Chow, Jim Clements, James Pringle Cook, Michael Duane, Jerry Gaddis, Hugh Greer, Todd Matson, Dean Mitchell, Gary Ozias, Johne Richardson, and David Vollbracht.
We’re very excited to include the art of Dean Mitchell in this show. Dean is a graduate of the Columbus College of Art and Design and currently has work in the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and the Saint Louis Art Museum. Dean’s subjects are often derived from African American life and have been the topic of countless articles on art and culture. His watercolors are especially sought after and have won dozens of national awards, including Best of Show for three years in a row at the Missouri Grand National Show. Two of his watercolors are on display. Don’t miss the chance to see Dean’s work.
