Denny, Steve
Artist Steve DennyOne of the region’s most accomplished watercolorists, Steve Denny captures the natural beauty of life in rural Kansas. He grew up in rural Sedgwick County and earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Emporia State University. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University.

Steve’s career as an artist did not follow a straight line. He has worked as a forensic photographer for the Wichita Police Department, in the stockyards and ranches of the Flint Hills and as a barn builder and saddle buyer. Today, he works as both a professional artist and as a gifted program teacher in Topeka, Kan. Since 1993, he has been an accomplished bagpiper. Throughout his art career, he has received numerous awards for his work. In 2002 and 2005, his paintings were chosen as finalists in the Arts for the Parks national juried competition in Jackson, Wyo. He has been listed in Art in America and his work has been published in several national publications.
