Thies, Louise
Louise Thies is a transplanted native of Houston, Texas. An artist for most of her life, she is a Signature Member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painter’s Society (NOAPS), Plein Air Artists of Colorado (PAAC), Women Artists of the West (WAOW), American Plains Artists (APA), and an Associate Member of Oil Painters of America (OPA). While never abandoning art, her careers have pulled her in various directions. She has been a computer programmer, an award-winning master taxidermist, education assistant for the Missouri Department of Conservation, and a substitute teacher. In midlife, she graduated cum laude from Southern Missouri State University with a degree in art education. She chose to create art rather than teach. Thies currently etches her artwork on granite by hand for several monument companies. Her passion is plein air painting. She does what she loves and loves what she does. Louise considers herself very lucky.
