About SouthWind Gallery
From its inception, the vision for SouthWind Gallery has been to provide a place for passionate artists to exhibit their work in a spacious, comfortable atmosphere where the community can view and purchase fine art.
SouthWind specializes in original paintings, photography and sculpture by artists with roots in Kansas and the Midwest. For over two decades, we have assembled an impressive group of regional and internationally recognized artists.
The gallery’s interior features soaring vaulted ceilings on two levels for viewing works of art, and the professional staff encourage browsing, questions and conversation about our art and artists.
Janet Paduh owns SouthWind Art Gallery of Topeka, formerly known as Framewoods Gallery. In 1992, former owner Gary Blitsch purchased Framewoods of Topeka, a custom picture framing studio and art gallery and soon began expanding the art and framing services. Over the years, the gallery has become a leader in the art and framing industry by consistently providing exceptional personal service and innovative products for our clients.
In 1999, the Framewoods gallery underwent a major expansion to create a much larger art gallery space, which was renamed SouthWind Gallery. Gary retired at the age of 76 in 2019, and Janet Paduh purchased the gallery to continue its legacy.
Today, SouthWind Art Gallery and Framewoods of Topeka are one convenient business, where residential and corporate clients come to get the best of both worlds—fine art and quality archival framing.

Janet Paduh was the owner of two art galleries before purchasing SouthWind Art Gallery of Topeka in 2019. Her previous galleries were the “Eclectic Art Gallery” on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, and a gallery in Oklahoma City called the “Contemporary Art Gallery.” Janet is originally from Topeka, but she moved to Texas in 1973 to be with her husband, Ron. They worked on a ranch in San Antonio, raising commercial cattle, horses and hogs. When her husband passed away, she moved back to Topeka in to care for her mother, who passed away in late January, 2019. Janet is an artist as well as a gallery owner. She’s painted in watercolors, inks, and acrylics for many years. More than anything, Janet loves using color in her work, and she finds joy painting the world fiesta-bright. Since taking the lead at SouthWind, Janet is happy to be back in her hometown doing what she loves, and will continue the tradition of fine art and framing at SouthWind Art Gallery.
Framing Studio Director
Apollonia Jamison has been a fixture at Framewoods since August 2003. Being an artist herself, she enjoys working with her hands and is an expert with color. It satisfies her creativity to do designs for our customers and she especially likes finding solutions for unusual framing needs. Apollonia’s creativity shines when she uses shadow boxes with different objects and makes those into one unified and beautiful design.
Gallery and Framing Assistant
Abby joined the SouthWind Team in summer 2017 as an intern and is now employed as a gallery and framing assistant. She received her BFA from Washburn university in 2018 and was a recipient of the Barbara L. Buzick scholarship, the Art Department’s four-year full tuition scholarship. Although Abby’s degree is in painting and drawing, she is experimenting a lot with fused glass as well as new media such as animation and light projections. We are often surprised by the creativity Abby brings into the workplace, both in our advertising and exhibit ideas and in her daily puns. She uses her video editing skill to record our events and manages our social media.
